Written by Heaven King | Posted on 8 March 2024

A day like this only comes once every 4 years! The things revealed this day will be talked about until the next leap year in 2028 and beyond. Let’s take a look at what went down on 29 February 2024.

SM Entertainment

Home of your favorite groups like ShinEE, SNSD, Red Velvet, EXO, aespa, and NCT, SM Entertainment’s founder, Lee Soo Man, has given all of his remaining shares to HYBE Entertainment. HYBE Entertainment has now acquired 868,948 shares of SM Entertainment, which is a 3.68% stake. Lee Soo Man now owns nothing of Sm Entertainment.

VAV

The boy group, VAV, did not disband, despite what you may have seen! They debuted in October 2015 as a 7-member group. However, 4 members left over time, and 3 members were added. The company VAV debuted under was A Team Entertainment, but their contract ended on 29 February 2024. Due to the expiration of the contract, it was believed that VAV disbanded after 9 years of promotions. Through their handwritten letters, VAV themselves confirmed that they have not yet disbanded. We must look out for future announcements and activities from VAV to see where they’ll take their career next.

SEVENTEEN

Leader of SEVENTEEN, S. Coups, has been exempted from his military service! As a lot are aware, Korea has mandatory military service for eligible men for 18-21 months of service. Most men perform this service before they reach 35 years of age. This is called conscription. In order to enlist, you must pass the conscription test with a Grade 1, 2, 3, or 4. Grades 5, 6 and 7 are rejected. S. Coups received a Grade 5 and is therefore exempted due to his recent injury.

Are you happy or sad about any of these notices? Did they surprise you? Let’s talk about it! There’s a lot more to unpack about the exemption of S. Coups, so stay tuned for that!
